Accelerating innovation through collaboration

The transition towards sustainable polymer materials requires collaboration across disciplines, sectors and borders. For this reason, MAGICBIOMAT actively builds synergies with European research projects, industry networks and knowledge-sharing platforms working towards a more sustainable future through bio-based and biodegradable polymer materials.

These collaborations enable the exchange of scientific knowledge, the organisation of joint dissemination activities, the development of new partnerships and the sharing of expertise between researchers, industry representatives and policymakers. By working together with complementary initiatives, MAGICBIOMAT strengthens the visibility and impact of its research while contributing to the wider European bioeconomy and circular economy ecosystem.

EU Project Collaborations

MAGICBIOMAT collaborates with Horizon Europe projects addressing complementary challenges in sustainable polymer materials, circular design and bio-based innovation. ANIPH (Avoiding the Negative Impacts Produced by Plastic Materials in Humanitarian Contexts) is a Horizon Europe project developing next-generation wound dressings and recyclable water-barrier packaging from bio-based and biodegradable polymers. The project combines advanced materials, artificial intelligence and digital traceability to reduce plastic pollution while ensuring products safely biodegrade in different environments.

Collaboration with MAGICBIOMAT

MAGICBIOMAT and ANIPH are sister projects funded under Horizon Europe, sharing a common ambition to accelerate the development of sustainable polymer materials through research, innovation and collaboration.

  • Joint dissemination and communication actions

The webinar series brings together researchers from both projects alongside internationally recognised keynote speakers to explore emerging topics in sustainable polymers, biodegradability and artificial intelligence, while encouraging collaboration between the two research communities.

Bio2PEs (Bio-based Polymers to Replace Conventional Plastics) is an EIC-funded project developing bio-based and biodegradable polyethylene (PE) and polyester from biomass waste for food packaging, textile packaging and agricultural applications through innovative material design.

Collaboration with MAGICBIOMAT

The collaboration between MAGICBIOMAT and Bio2PEs began during the Bio2PEs Kick-off Meeting in Athlone, Ireland, and has since expanded through joint dissemination and knowledge exchange activities.

  • Collaboration through the MAGICBIOMAT Expert Lecture Series

Bio2PEs joined the launch of the MAGICBIOMAT Expert Lecture Series as the collaborating project for the first lecture, strengthening links between the two consortia and increasing the visibility of both initiatives within the European sustainable materials community.

European Platforms & Networks

Beyond project-to-project collaboration, MAGICBIOMAT actively engages with European knowledge-sharing platforms and industry networks that connect researchers, businesses and policymakers working towards a more sustainable future for materials and plastics.

Participation in these initiatives increases the visibility of the project's research, facilitates knowledge exchange with a wider stakeholder community and strengthens MAGICBIOMAT's contribution to the European bioeconomy and circular economy landscape.

MAGICBIOMAT is featured on the platform, increasing the project's visibility among European stakeholders and supporting the wider dissemination of its research beyond the consortium.
European Bioplastics is the leading European association representing the bioplastics industry, bringing together companies, research organisations and innovation projects working to advance bio-based, biodegradable and compostable plastics across Europe.

MAGICBIOMAT actively participates in the European Bioplastics community through its thematic clusters and networking initiatives, strengthening collaboration and increasing the visibility of its research among key stakeholders.

European Bioplastics Clusters

As part of its collaboration with European Bioplastics, MAGICBIOMAT participates in thematic clusters that bring together Horizon Europe projects, research organisations and industry stakeholders working on complementary aspects of bio-based and biodegradable materials.
These clusters promote knowledge exchange, strengthen collaboration between projects and support the development of innovative solutions across multiple application sectors.

European Bioplastics Coatings Cluster

This cluster brings together European projects developing sustainable coating technologies for bio-based materials and packaging.

MAGICBIOMAT participates in the cluster to exchange knowledge with projects working on similar scientific challenges, identify opportunities for collaboration and contribute to discussions on innovative coating solutions that support the transition towards more sustainable materials.

European Bioplastics Agricultural Applications Cluster

This cluster focuses on bio-based and biodegradable materials developed for agricultural applications, particularly products designed to biodegrade safely in soil.
MAGICBIOMAT has initiated its participation in the cluster, creating opportunities to engage with projects developing sustainable agricultural solutions and strengthening its visibility within the European community working on soil-biodegradable materials.
