The MAGIBIOMAT consortium is composed of seven partners from seven different countries across Europe, including three universities (Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest (TUS), UNIVERSITA DEGLI STUDI DI PADOVA (UNIPD), THE UNIVERSITY OF SHEFFIELD (USFD)), one RTO (CENTRE TECHNIQUE INDUSTRIEL DE LA PLASTURGIE ET DES COMPOSITES (IPC) ), one industrial partner (ORGANIK KIMYA SANAYI VE TICARET AS OK) and two SMEs (DIGIOTOUCH OU (DIGI), ISOTECH Ltd).

TUS is leading the consortium ensuring the achievement of objectives thanks to a global vision of the project and previous experience in EU projects.

TUS is a multi-campus university spread across seven campuses throughout Ireland’s Midwest and Midlands region. With principal campuses at Limerick and Athlone, we benefit from an already strong and vibrant history of education and learning in the wider region, and will continue to play our part in sustaining and enhancing this identity for generations to come.

By providing a healthy supply of high-quality graduates and an additional focal point for growth and innovation, we can help regional development take a big step forward. And for our nation, a technological university in the heart of Ireland adds a new dimension to education in our country, demonstrating a commitment to shared values like inclusivity, accessibility, and supportiveness.

Our continuous focus on partnership, innovation and staying agile shows we understand the importance of working with key stakeholders across industry and society. And with more than 15,000 students enrolling in hundreds of courses every year across four counties, our story has only just begun. The French Industrial Technical Center (CTI) for Plastics and Composites, known as IPC, plays a key role in promoting and innovating plastic and composite materials and processes. With its expertise and network of experts spread across the country, IPC actively supports industrial companies in various areas, from the study and establishment of protocols to feasibility and technology transfer. IPC collaborates with more than 300 industrial companies, as well as other cutting-edge technical centers and academic laboratories, on collaborative or resourcing projects:

  • Resourcing projects are internal IPC projects that develop knowledge to overcome technological barriers and prepare for the innovations of tomorrow.
  • As part of collaborative projects, IPC partners with industrial partners to carry out R&D projects, the results of which are reserved for the project partners.

IPC has the skills and technical platforms to carry out this research at varying levels of maturity, from laboratory scale to industrial scale, including demonstrator scales (TRL 3 to TRL 6):

  • Technical platforms based on traditional plastics and composites industry skills.
  • Technological platforms integrating advanced technologies.
  • Characterization and analysis platforms comply with current regulations and standards in the various plastics and composites sectors.

IPC's research activities are focused on three strategic areas outlined in its 2020-2024 Objectives and Performance Contract roadmap.
